Filming for Vettaikkaaran began on March 9, 2009 The filming took place in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh where film’s title song was choreographed and filmed with Vijay, his son and 90 junior artists. The tight first schedule was completed in Andhra. The second schedule of shooting of the film was in Chennai. A stunt sequence was filmed a couple of days back in Alwarpet and adjacent areas. An action scene involving Vijay was choreographed along with stunt artists.

2009 Diwali (October 17), will see the biggest clash on screen in Kollywood at recent times. Vijay’s Vettaikaran will take on Suriya’s Aadhavan for this year Diwali’s big fire work clash. Vijay on his 35th birthday celebration said that, 70% of Vettaikaran shooting has been over and the movie will be ready for Diwali release.

Suryia’s Aadhavan produced by Udayanidhi Stalin’s Red Giant Pictures and directed by K.S Ravikumar have also confirmed their plans to release the movie for this years Diwali. So it will be Vettaikaran Vs Aadhavan on this years Diwali and sure both the movies will be a treat for both vijay and suriya fans.

Vijay’s last two movies didn’t do well at Box Office while Surya’s last movie Ayan went on to become the biggest hit of the year 2009 untill now. Vijay who is known as the ghilli of Box office want’s to came back with a big bang and surely Vettaikaran wont disappoint his fans.
