Paruthiveeran fame Karthik does the lead role in the film, pairing with Reema Sen. Parthiban acts in a guest role as does Andrea Jeremiah. The story and screen play are penned by the director himself. The music section is scored by G. V. Prakash Kumar, who has replaced Yuvan Shankar Raja in the midst of the film.

Director Selvaraghavan’s Aayirathil Oruvan has now been confirmed that it will screens for Pongal. The movie has started newspaper advertisement stating that the movie will be an Pongal release.
“Aayirathil Oruvan’ is produced by R. Ravendran of Dream Valley Entertainment with Karthi, Andrea, Reema Sen and Parthiban in lead roles. As per the Selvaraghavan statement the movie CG and graphic work is over. Currently the re-recording work is going on, it will be over in the next two days and then the final mixing will star. The movie will be censored before before Christmas and it will be hitting theatres this Pongal.
The contentious issue of two Karthi films- Aayirathil Oruvan & Paiyya releasing for Pongal has been amicably settled. Now the Lingusamy directed film will release only after a minimum 35 days after the release of the Selvaraghavan film.

Earlier, it was reported that Selvaraghavan’s magnum opus “Aayirathil Oruvan’ is sure to hit screens for Christmas. But now it has been confirmed that Aayirathil Oruvan is nowhere near its release in 2009 and will be release for 2010 pongal.
“Aayirathil Oruvan’ is produced by R. Ravendran of Dream Valley Entertainment with Karthi, Andrea, Reema Sen and Parthiban in lead roles. The reports have furthermore stated that it will take nearly a couple of months to complete the post productions works: editing, sound recording and graphic works.
Ravendran has issued a press statement saying that the film was started as a Rs 7 crore project, then it became Rs 12 crore and finally at the time of release it will touch Rs 31 Crore!. He also said the movie shaped out well, it took time because it is an action adventure period drama with lots of special effects and graphics. Now it is getting ready for release positively for Pongal 2010
Until now, none of the TV channels have come forward to acquire the satellite rights due to big price tags. As well, buzzes are that distributors are unwillingly backing off as Ravendran has quoted big amount that may not benefit them with desired results.\
