“Ishqiya’ grosses over Rs. 14 crore domestic in just three days. Produced by Shemaroo Entertainment, Vishal Bhardwaj Pictures, India Theatrical and distributed by Boney Kapoor’s BSK Network and Entertainment Private Limited, “Ishqiya’, has grossed over Rs. 14 crore at the domestic box office in the first weekend of its release.
In just three days, the gross box office collections of the film in India have crossed Rs. 15 Crore on 522 screens. Friday morning shows opened with 40-60 percent in key areas like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune , Bangalore and evening settled down to 65-70 percent with average occupancy cultivating first day gross box office of Rs. 3.85 crore, with glowing reviews ranging from 3-4 star ratings and strong word-of-mouth from audience Saturday showed an impressive jump of 25-30 percent and settle down to Rs. 5 Crore, Sunday showed further jump of 30 percent compare to Friday and 8-10 percent compare to Saturday, garnered further Rs. 5.40 crore cultivating to cumulative an astounding opening weekend collection of more than Rs. 14 Crore gross box office. Salman Khan’s much ambitious period drama “Veer” has fallen flat at the box office despite having an extended weekend for business, thanks to Republic Day. The movie has not gone beyond an average 45 percent occupancy over the initial weekend.
Released last Friday, the film was a solo release, but has failed to attract masses.
‘Veer’ is an average movie. While the constant on Friday and Saturday was only 44 percent occupancy, it dropped to 39 percent on Sunday and has been on an average only 43 percent over the initial weekend,” Amit Awasthi, manager (programming and operations) of Spice Cinemas at Noida. Aamir Khan starrer comedy-drama “3 Idiots” has grossed over Rs.315 crore ($70 million) globally in the 19 days since its release, a statement by Reliance BIG Entertainment, the film’s distributor, said Tuesday.
Based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller Five Point Someone, the film has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
“‘3 Idiots’ has opened new vistas for the Indian film industry. The huge response across continents reinforces our belief that a well-made, well-exploited film can still create magic in the darkened auditorium. We are proud to be associated with Vinod, Aamir, Raju and the talented team of ‘3 idiots’,” said Amit Khanna, chairman, Reliance BIG Entertainment.

Aamir Khan starrer comedy-drama “3 Idiots” has created a record by grossing over Rs.100 crore in its first four days. Reliance BIG Entertainment, distributor of the film, released about 2,000 prints across 40 countries.
Based on Chetan Bhagat’s bestseller “Five Point Someone”, the film has been produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
“We are privileged to have been associated with ‘3 idiots’ and its immensely talented team led by Vinod, Aamir and Raju. The ramp-up to Rs. 100 crore in 4 days is phenomenal and we are confident that the film will continue to blaze new records in the weeks to come,” Amit Khanna, Chairman, Reliance Big Entertainment, said in a statement. Vijay’s mega budget action extravaganza Vettaikaran rights, has now been sold at a new record price for Kerala and Karnataka.
In Kerala the film has been sold at a record price and it is a new record for a Vijay film. Vettaikaran is releasing world wide on December 18 and in kerala alone it is opening in nearly 75 screens.
Vettaikaran features Vijay and Anoushka in lead roles, it is being directed by Babu Sivan. The movie distribution rights have been aquired by Sun pictures and it has started a massive promo on all it channels from December 1st.
